A controversial statement indeed. But when you think about the advent of RSS aggregators and the like, its obvious to me that people want things in one place! So why, when it comes to keeping the masses updated on the day to day meandering experience of life via what are termed as Social Networking sites are there so many of the bloody things?
Personally, I use three. Bebo, Blogger and Facebook. I am ashamed of this.
Let me be the first to say, I hate Bebo. I hate it. Hate is a strong word. Bebo is rubbish, it is not usable by any stretch of the imagination, nor is it visually appealing. The only novel feature about bebo is the whiteboard and FFart system. I don't even know why I bother using it, other than to keep in touch with friends from the UK, who have on mass adopted it, and shunned facebook. Not sure why, seen as the only new features Bebo get these days are copies of Facebook features.
Blogger, is great. Express my thoughts as if I was using a full featured word processor, get comments etc. The only thing missing is the ability to show off how many people I know.
Facebook is fantastic, load of people I know are on it (mostly Canadians) The photo upload feature is fantastic, you can actually find people on it! Overall a personal favourite.
How do people maintain all of these. There are others, myspace et al. and some people I know have an account with all of them. One guy I know runs his own Blog software, I can't imagine why! I think we should just roll them into one!
